Tshabalala opens World Cup scoring
South African midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala scored the first goal of the first World Cup played on African soil. He found the back of the net with a stunning strike in the 55th minute of the opening match against Mexico on Friday. The Mexicans drew level in the 79th minute, giving them a well-earned draw in front of 84,500 fans in the Soccer City stadium.
