AMF 82-30 Sweep Cycle (Second Ball)
A short video of the second ball cycle as seen across the ball return chute. The 82-30's sweep works off an arm that lowers the sweep into the guard position; part of the track on which the sweep travels is elevated and is hinged, dropping to a horizontal when the sweep is down. The sweep also uses a three-gear assembly somewhat similar to the table. The main gear is a semi-circle and is stationary. The ratios of the center and outer gears is what makes the sweep's cycle what it is. Your vehicle's windshield wipers work on a very similar concept. As mentioned in the previous video, this center's 82-30s are outfitted with a special solenoid tied to the table motor's circuit. Again, until the table starts its cycle, the ball door is latched shut, and this delays allows pins to be moved away from the door before it opens (this delay is more useful on the first ball cycle when there is usually more pins in play). As the table's spotting cycle starts, note the ball will soon return, appearing roughly as the pins reach the pin deck.
