An Interview with Phoenix
After the staggering success of their 2009 album, Phoenix have gone from Bowery Ballroom bait to arena-sized rockers. It seems like only last summer we were filming Passion Pit at their joint Central Park show (it was), and now here we are; 2010 and they’ve outpaced our wildest dreams. They've already played some huge shows. Their headlining slot at Lollapalooza 2010 was one of the most fun of the entire weekend, but they're not done yet. The jewel in their crown is a headlining night at Madison Square Garden in New York City, with support from The Dirty Projectors and Wavves. We got a chance to talk to the band backstage before a late night appearance, and this is what they had to say about their philosophy about making music and their thoughts on MSG.
