Madden '09
Another year passes, and we get the next installment of the Madden football series. So what’s in store for those hungry to pick up their copies this year? Well like I've previously mentioned, Brett Favre won't be wearing the same jersey on the cover, but let's delve a little deeper. One of the true problems with the Madden series has been the inability to really update or revamp the entire series into something fresh and fun. Regardless, Madden is still the best football game out there, and has always been. Maybe that's the problem. Anyway, this year on the Xbox 360 and PS3 we've got the added new features of a Rookie Mode to help out new players, a new play calling system, and an updated Superstar mode. So really, nothing that great. At all. Well phew, I guess we're really lucky that there's only Madden out there, because having any real competition would totally make each year's installment really boring. Sarcasm aside, Madden is still a fun game and if you're looking for that football fix, which console should you get it for? Hrm, a sports game where you're throwing a football... oh yeah, what about the Wii? Great call. The Wii version of Madden '09 has the most significant changes because of the Wii controller technology, which has proven again to be a selling point in the Madden series. Now not only can you throw the ball with the wii-mote, but you can actually draw out your own receiver routes in real time and totally stomp over the defense. The mode is named Call Your Shot, and makes this Wii version of Madden the best yet. Facing Cover 3 and you're going with a play fake? Use the Wii-mote to literally draw out the man coverage and hit your key receiver with a deep ball... touchdown.
