Movie review : "Scream4"
It been more than a decade since we saw GHOSTFACE slashing and killing his way through the box office…now he or she is back. No spoilers in this review. It has been 10 years since last SCREAM movie…now Wes Craven and company are back, with the same main characters, some new fresh faces, and plenty of new fresh slaughters in…"SCREAM 4". Neve Campbell reprises her role as Sidney Prescott. She is traveling the country promoting her book on how she outsmarted all the previous "GHOSTFACE’S" in the past. When she returns to her hometown of Woodsboro she reunites with David Arquette (the cop) and Courteney Cox (the journalist). She also reunites with…a new GHOSTFACE. SCREAM 4 plays out like a soap opera with an extreme violent stabbing every now and then. The small army of young actors keep this series fresh but the plot ? Well, its still stuck in the 1990's. Without giving anything away I will simply say that the movie ends awkwardly and, in my opinion, your emotional connection to the franchise, if you have one, will be carried out on a stretcher just like one of the many characters in the movie. What was scary into 90's isn't necessarily scary today. Sure the film updates things with young actors and new technology, but GHOSTFACE ? Still the same, maybe even a little long in the tooth. The flick-o-meter gives SCREAM 4 a worthy three out of five. There are a few scary moments, its funny at times, and I'm a bit of a fan of slasher movies. I was, however, hoping for a better ending. So now you know before you go. Please check out all my movie reviews on my website.
