Snow blankets sidewalks
While the city's trucks were clearing the streets of 13th and Connecticut this morning, Lawrence resident Jerry Metz and son Darwin were taking care of their sidewalk. The city placed an ordinance in 2002 requiring property owners to clear public sidewalks that are close to their houses. If this is not done, the snow freezes and remains slippery and hazardous before it melts away.
