Dancing On The Edge
Dancing On The Edge — Dancing On The Edge is a family film about a teenage girl’s struggle with addiction and her dream of being a ballet dancer. When sixteen-year-old Corey Farmer is released from detox, she is placed in Priority Place, a recovery center for juvenile addicts. Her pleas to come home fall on the deaf ears of her mother, Lucy Farmer, an all too frantic and overwhelmed forty-something, and her absent father, Darryl Farmer, a mid-life crisis guy who has all he can do to remember birthdays and to pay Lucys alimony. At the request of her roommate, Lynne Duckworth, Head Counselor, Barney Dugan, grants Corey the opportunity to attend ballet class, provided she keeps her nose clean. It is there she meets Diane Simpson, dancer extraordinaire and Coreys first friend outside of Priority Place. It doesnt take long for the two girls to hit it off, both in, and out, of class. Just as everything appears to be going right, Coreys fate takes an unexpected turn as she unwittingly finds herself on the wrong end of a drug deal meant for Diane. With everything unraveling before her eyes, Barney steps up in support of Corey. In this moment, Corey finds an inner strength beyond her years, rejecting Darryls offer to live with her, forgiving Diane for the setup, and weaving her way through a crisis most would not survive. Written, Produced and Directed by Alexander MacKenzie, Dancing On The Edge was filmed entirely in Vancouver, Washington and Happy Valley, Oregon.
