Mary Garber went to work as a society editor at North Carolina’s Winston-Salem Journal in 1940, then transferred to sports in 1946 for a life-long career. She recalled her love of sports reporting, the discrimination she faced as a woman, and her determination to cover black high school athletes in the segregated South.   This program is the second half of a two-part interview.
