American Airlines to Cooperate with Department of Justice in
American Airlines (NYSE:AMR) today released a statement that it intends to fully cooperate with the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice in an investigation into global distribution systems practices. According to the company, it had received a Civil Investigative Demand (CID) from the Department of Justice, notifying it of an investigation of whether conduct by global distribution systems violated the U.S. antitrust laws. The CID further requests that AMR provide information relevant to that investigation. In a separate report, AMR recently filed a federal antitrust complaint against one global distribution systems company, Travelport. The case remains pending in federal court for the Northern District of Texas. Shares of American Airlines are down 0.97% to $6.66.
