Capital city of Armenia Yerevan
Names as 2012 World Book Capital, estimated of 1,100,000 people on 2009, dates back to 8th century BC, an estonishing city Yerevan is truly unique in many ways. After the WWI the city became the capital of the Republic of Armenia as thousands of War survivors came to live in this region.  The name has roots in expression exclaimed by Noah (Old Testament Ark builder and Great Flood survivor). When the Ark seatled on top of Ararat Mountain and Noah came out of the vessel he said 'Yerevats' which means 'it appeared'. Yerevan has rich history from Noah to Arab, Persian and Ottoman rule to Russian rule and later on becoming a Soviet Yerevan when the Soviet Union created states like Armenian Soviet Socialistic Republic. Today Yerevan strives to become a major player in business and commerce in the region and becoming modernized since Soviet Era ended some 20 years ago. Visit it!
