政府建議設立獨立保監局展開3個月諮詢
財經事務及庫務局局長陳家強表示，政府建議按照國際上的規定，設立獨立的保險業監管局，日後無論在財務及運作上，都是獨立於政府，目的是加強對保險公司以及中介人監管，以便更有效保障保單持有人的利益，有關建議會諮詢公眾三個月。 政府提出，日後會賦予獨立的保監局，新增的監管權力，包括他們可以對保險公司進行日常監察，巡查以及調查，並懲處違規行為。 陳家強希望，在2011年就成立獨立的保監局向立法會提出立法建議。 他又說，目前是靠業內自我監管，接受市民投訴的中介團體，總共有3個，日後新機構可以一併處理投訴及調查，相信有助增加保單持有人的信心。
