Cieling fans, a way to keep cool and save the earth
So we’ve talked about the most energy efficient way to run your air conditioning during these extremely hot summer months... but what are some alternatives that can reduce your reliance on air conditioning and might even work well enough for you to keep your AC turned off all summer? One of the best choices for cooling you down are old fashioned, energy efficient ceiling fans. Moving air over one's body creates an excellent and relaxing cooling effect, and if you use ceiling fans, they can save you about 25 percent on your home cooling costs and make your place seem as much as ten degrees cooler... a big help during this sticky and sure to be record breaking summer. And instead of using an AC that cools your whole house, why not head down to Target and pick up a couple fans? They will cool the space your in a more directed manner, and won't use a ton of energy cooling your whole home, including rooms your not actually in. If you use celing and electric fans to cool your home, you can reduce your use of air conditioning and your energy costs and environmental impact. And maybe you can be truly hardcore and cut out the AC altogether. If you dare.
