I Hate Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day. All of which is fitting as the owner of Roses for Romance, a quaint flower shop in the heart of a friendly Brooklyn, NY neighborhood. Her one problem is that she hates relationships. Having been hurt numerous times in the past when it comes to matters of the heart, Genevieve keeps herself happy by not letting any one man in. Dating is a game to her, a game she is very good at. Genevieve doesn't get dumped and never gets hurt because she doesn't stick around long enough for things to get ugly. Then she meets Greg (JOHN CORBETT). He's good looking, funny and humble. Having recently moved into town, Greg left his old career as an attorney in Atlanta to start up a new Tapas restaurant, Get On Tapas. So how is this ideal catch still single? It's because, unlike Genevieve, Greg doesn't have a game. He can never seem to understand the rules of dating or how to romance a girl. After the two meet, Genevieve explains her theory to Greg: Only date a person for five dates and when the romance is gone, move on. Greg decides to try this new way of dating. For him, it seems like a good way to avoid his usual break up disasters. However, neither one could have predicted just how high the sparks would fly when the two of them are together. Both are falling madly in love. So when the five dates are over, Genevieve's theory of romance is truly tested. Genevieve has to face her past and admit she does want love, even at the risk if getting hurt. Greg has to swallow his pride, throw away his inhibitions, and go get her. What starts on one Valentine's Day but doesn't blossom until that same day a year later is a love story written in rose petals.
