Inside Syria - Subs
In March 2011, the wave of Arab Spring hit Bashar al-Assad’s regime when the people of Syria rebelled against the government, rallying for democracy and civil rights. As a result, Syrian forces got even more brutal, killing and imprisoning thousands of civilians. The situation deteriorated upon the siege of Jisr al-Shughour by the Syrian army, leading thousands of citizens to cross the Turkish-Syrian border to seek shelter. Harboured in tents across the border, they’ve been living in political purgatory waiting for their voices to be heard. Journalist Alexander Christie-Miller got inside Syria through the Turkish village of Guvecci and got us this report.
