The story is as Nitish Roy (Uttam Kumar) who was an officer lived in Kolkata, with his wife (Sabitri Chatterjee) & brother Sitish (Ranjit Mullick). Champa (Ratna Ghoshal) is their servant, she loved Amiyo (Rabi Ghose) who was a taxi driver. Nitish’s wife loved Champa, but not Champa's behaviour with Sitish. Sitish Roy got a service on a jute mill but the company was very far from their house. After seeing this, Mr. Chowdhury (Shekhar Chattopadhyay) who was the manager of jute mill, proposed his daughter's marry with Sitish. So Mr. Chowdhury invited Sitish to his house for lunch. Somehow, Sitish escaped from there. On the other hand, he found out that it was because of his "unmarried" status! Now he had to choose from various daughters of his colleagues. Sitish lived in front of Nipa's (Mithu Mukherjee) house. Nipa was a school master's daughter. Sitish got attracted to Nipa. As he keeps on peeping through the window.
