This was a first for Britiish politics. The leaders of the main parties squaring up face to face in three live televised debates. Labour leader Gordon Brown, David Camerom, the Conservative leader and the leader of the Liberal Domocrats, Nick Clegg. It was an unprecedented platform for Clegg, his party normally polls a distant third.
