NBA Created New Rule To Cut Down Whining, Muttering When Fou
The NBA has created a new rule to cut down on the whining and muttering that usually follows after a foul call. The New York Times reports that players will earn a technical foul if they cannot keep themselves from complaining and and acting out on other unruly demonstrations. On Monday night at the Knicks and Celtics game at Madison Square Garden, the rule was on full display, with officials calling four technicals in the span of 16 seconds.Cleveland Cavaliers Coach Byron Scott said of the new policy, "I thought it was great. I don’t think there should be players that can run up on referees, that can throw punches in the air. There shouldn't be players blatantly trying to let everybody know that they got hit by slapping their hands and things like that."
