World Music: Sa Dingding, "Mama Tian Na"
-Download on iTunes-Buy the album(China) Sa Dingding is half Mongolian, and half Han Chinese. Growing up on the Mongolian steppes, she absorbed the silences and the sounds that would form her musical vocabulary. She sings in Mandarin, Tibetan, Sanscrit, and a language of her own invention, and her brand of ambient/electronica/folk has made her extremely popular as an example of the New China. She is signed with a major label, which in turn has produced some very high-end videos indeed. In "Mama Tian Na" she is at the center of a CG mandella, singing a classic Bhuddhist mantra. We particularly like her blue hat.
