Casey Anthony Verdict Shows U.S. System Needs Change
iReport — It was another bad day for the U.S. Justice system, as a jury in Florida shocked the nation with not guilty verdicts in the nationally followed case of Casey Anthony, she had been charged with the killing of her little daughter Caylee. However, it appeared that prosecutors did not learn from the OJ and Robert Blake cases - they 'overcharged' the defendent. In this reporters opinion, it should not have been a death penalty case, the evidence was too weak. The DA should also have left the option for the lesser manslaughter charge. We are the only country left with our type of juror system. In many other nations, it does not take a full unanimous 12 person panel to convict. In these areas, some panels have only six members. The judges also have a say in the verdicts, and the jurors tend to be more professional. Once again, we have a jury that ignored the evidence, the science, and the obvious. Casey also had a 'dream team' lawyer - who was paid by the state of Florida! The celebs, athletes, and the notorious continue to win their cases while you and I would already be in jail. But there is so much money in our legal system that we doubt it will ever be changed. God bless little Caylee’s soul - No justice, No Peace for her and her family.
