When Valerie Pingel had a double mastectomy, her breast reconstruction took place at the same time.  Dr. Peter Neligan and Dr. Hakim Said, from the Center for Reconstructive Surgery at University of Washington Medical Center, used Ms. Pingel’s own abdominal tissue to create natural implants.
