Sigma6 installation: Parasite
While the Mapping Festival is primarily focused on the artistic pursuits involving video projection the application of light alone is also of great interest to us. The entrance to the Usine that provides access to Le Zoo, Kab and the Moloko bar reflects the character of these establishments. The walls are adorned with posters and stickers. It is a truly a public space because the public often modifies the space. Sigma6 took this concept further by creating a custom lighting setup that was a reflection upon the controlled chaos that transpires within the clubs. The intermittent lighting forced the viewer to try to orient themselves to the space while also absorbing the details of the stickers, posters and flyers as well as the architectural details of the entrance that are often overlooked.
