Glenn Brown in conversation with Michael Bracewell
This May Tate Liverpool presents an 'in conversation' event featuring the compelling British artist Glenn Brown.05.05.2009 This May Tate Liverpool presents an 'in conversation' event featuring the compelling British artist Glenn Brown. With the major retrospective of Glenn Brown on display until 10 May, join Tate Liverpool for this rare opportunity to see the artist in discussion about his enigmatic body of work.Tate Liverpool has brought together the largest selection of the Glenn Brown paintings and sculptures to date, including 28 works which have never been seen in the UK before. Brown’s work focuses on reproductions of existing artworks, and he works from them directly to reveal how often we experience visual art though second-hand sources such as photography. He mimics, recreates and distorts images, manipulating discrepancies and turning the familiar into the unsettling, the recognisable into the alien. This event promises to be an unmissable opportunity for enthusiasts who want to know more about the man and his work or those intrigued by the artist's technique and curious subject matter.Brown will use this forum to discuss the exhibition and his work with Michael Bracewell, the writer, novelist and social commentator who has also contributed to key Glenn Brown publications, namely the catalogue for the artist's 2007 exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery, New York. Bracewell was a member of the judging panel for the 2007 Turner Prize, the first time the prize it travelled outside of London.
