Art is Life
iReport — Along my trek to discover artisans and artistic people and places in Romania, I met a family who really have the meaning of art in their veins. Dad, Mom, children and grandparents all have talents which few of us can master. From needlework to clay formation, jewelry design to color palettes, and paper folding to iron forging with some marble chiseling thrown in for good measure, well it was impressive, and this family even invited me in for an afternoon to be treated to their in-house spa. They also have a full gym and teach exercise classes, weight lifting, and judo. It’s a great place where the neighborhood kids can get lessons in sculpture, painting, origami and other fine points usually reserved for people in the big city. But in this little town of Brebu in the Prahova valley of Romania, you can while away the hours with some really nice folk who'll teach you a thing or two or three! I asked the eldest daughter, Ana-Maria Ralucan, to tell me a bit about what her father and others in her family make on a regular basis. It was eye-opening and I could see that her pride was well assigned. With Dad as her teacher, how could she lose! Thanks, Ana-Maria and famly for a really great visit!
