Adobe Takes AIR for Linux out of Beta
One of the big software developments of the year was Adobe’s introduction of AIR, a desktop computing environment which marries rich, local applications with the live interactivity of the Web. Today, the company announced that it has brought its version for Linux out of beta. It already has AIR for Windows and the Mac. Linux is not a big deal right now-- only 2 percent of Adobe's user base-- but it is important for the software to be cross platform, reports Josh Lowensohn on CNET's Webware. The next big push for AIR will be for mobile devices. In September on MIT campus, I sat down with Adobe CTO Kevin Lynch to talk about the future of AIR. Kevin was a speaker at the EmTech08 conference. — Andy Plesser, Executive Producer
