It’s a horrible start of the 2008 campaign for Jim Leyland and the Detroit Tigers and poor Jim must now be going through an entire carton of cigarette's a day now. Lefthander Nate Robertson gave up 5 runs and 7 hits over 5 innings of work in his first start against the White Sox. The Red Sox hit Robertson pretty well batting .297 in 7 starts and Robertson's ERA versus the Red Sox is a hefty 6.42. The Tigers hit Wakefield pretty well as Brandon Inge, Magglio Ordonez and Ivan Rodrigues have put up good numbers against the knuckle ball pitcher. There should be some late offense in this one.
