The Hot Seat: Straylight Run
Just when Shaun Cooper and John Nolan were being to enjoy success as members of Taking Back Sunday, they turned their back on it all to start over. Leaving the band behind in 2003, they teamed up with former Breaking Pangea drummer Will Noon and John’s sister Michelle to form Straylight Run. Their self-titled album delivers on their promise to depart from Taking Back Sunday’s melodic hardcore sound. Piano, guitar, drum loops and strange samples mix with haunting vocals to create one of 2004’s most acclaimed debuts. Will got our from behind his kit and into mtvU’s Hot Seat to offer some insight on the genius of Pantera, the difficulty of Catch 22 and what he learned from Abe Lincoln.
