01 Research Process Overview, 1 of 26
Most people at some time or other have wondered who their ancestors were, where they lived and what they did. The search for your ancestors - family history research - can change your life and bring many rewards. Developed by a team of professional genealogist, experienced researchers and instructional designers, the 5-Step Family History Research Process will help you find your ancestors. Each of the 5 steps builds on the others, until you reach your goal. This series of 26, three to eight minute video segments teaches you how to use the 5-Step Family History Research Process. Step 1 is to "Write Down What You Know." In Step 2 you "Decide What You Want to Learn." Step 3 is to "Choose a Source of Information" and Step 4 is to "Learn From the Source." Finally Step 5, "Use What You Learned," leads you back to Step 1, and the process begins again as you have new questions and newly found ancestors to learn more about.
