One of the early uses of the Internet was to form virtual communities of people with common interests. This program looks at several early communities including The Mining Company (now about.com), HipBONE, PlanetOut, Yahoo Clubs, and GeoCities. Guests include Scott Kurnit, founder of The Mining Company and David Bohnett, founder of GeoCities. Originally broadcast in 1998. Shot on location at the CyberSmmith internet cafe in Palo Alto, California.
