New Sanctions Imposed on North Korea
(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: July 21, 2010) The U.S. has imposed more sanctions on North Korea, including the buying and selling of arms and an asset freeze on certain individuals. An apparent terrorist attack on a power plant in Russia’s North Caucasus has killed two security guards. Sudanese leader Omar al-Bashir, accused of war crimes and genocide by the International Criminal Court (ICC), is taking a risk by traveling to Chad, an ICC-member state. Chinese floods and landslides have killed more than seven hundred, making this the deadliest flood season since 1998. Foreigners in South Africa fear xenophobic attacks in the wake of the World Cup.
