Microsoft and Travelport Team Up To Aid Travel Industry Microsoft and travel conglomerate Travelport have announced they are joining forces to develop an integrated set of services for the travel industry that would address challenges faced by travelers, suppliers, and travel agents. Through the collaboration, Microsoft and Travelport will explore the development of services to provide airlines, travel suppliers, and travel agencies, including travel management companies and online travel agents, with new revenue and cost reduction opportunities, broader distribution reach, and improved customer satisfaction and loyalty. Previously, Microsoft and Travelport teamed to create e-Pricing shopping technology for the Redmond software giant’s Expedia.com travel reservations site. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, Travelport processes 1.1 billion travel transactions per day. They serve 63,000 travel agencies and many corporations around the world. They own 48% of Orbitz, a leading global online travel company.
