Scientists also come to ALMA to study astronomy
Juan Rodrigo Corts, Chilean astronomer says stars are formed in clouds of dust. The interesting thing about ALMA is that because of how light sensitive it is, it is able to penetrate that cloud and look inside it. So you can see how stars are formed and you can go back millions and millions of years-worth of light to see how the first galaxies were formed. But ALMA, is more than just a set of high tech antennae. Scientists here also study astronomy and are financing a book about local knowledge that is passed down through the generations.
