Trained media influence decision makers
Dr Razia Arkadian, Director UN Water Decade Programme on Capacity Development (UNW-DPC) based in Germany talks from experience on how useful training workshops for media have been to influence decision makers. This became clear form his work in Teheran which he has taken forward in his current work in Bonn. His organisation sponsored two regional workshops for media for Arab journalists in Teheran and Egypt. The journalists who write the most and best stories get an opportunity to participate in Deutsch Welle media training programmes in German and major water events. He talks to IRC’s Dick de Jong at the Cape Town WaterCube on 21 March 2011.
