故事簡介正在讀初中三年級的女生——日暮籬是一名家住在神社的普通女孩子。15歲生日那天，被妖怪─百足妖婦拖入神社的枯井中，來到了500年前的日本戰國時代，並與已被封印的半妖——犬夜叉相遇。犬夜叉自稱是為得到四魂之玉以成為真正的妖怪，實際上並非完全如此。來到戰國時代的阿籬被認出是曾是犬夜叉的情人，但因誤會成將犬夜叉封印的女巫桔梗的轉世。由於阿籬不小心將四魂之玉用箭射碎，並散至各地。犬夜叉、阿籬以及後來出現的朋友七寶、彌勒和珊瑚踏上了搜集四魂之玉並打倒敵人——奈落的旅途。
