In Committee From The House Of Commons Procedure and House Affairs (March 18, 2011)International Cooperation Minister Bev Oda responded to allegations that she intentionally misled MPs with her explanations on how and why a document was altered to deny funding for KAIROS. Tthe faith-based aid group lost $7 million in funding after the word “not” was inserted to a CIDA document that had recommended the group should receive government funding. The minister told commmittee members that she took full responsibility for the confusion created by her statements and apologized. The committee could find the minister in contempt of Parliament. CIDA president Margaret Biggs also testified. KAIROS executive director Mary Corkery addressed the committee that was looking into allegations that International Cooperation Minister Bev Oda misled Parliament with her explanations about a funding decision for the faith-based aid group. Parliamentary law clerk Rob Walsh offered his observations as the committee’s last witness during the hearings to consider a contempt finding against International Cooperation Minister Bev Oda.This program includes more than 1 video.
