Louis-Saint-Laurent
Campaign Politics Louis-Saint-LaurentThe conservative candidate Josée Verner has represented the riding of Louis-Saint-Laurent in Ottawa since 2006. During the 2008 election, she won a second term by beating her Bloc opponent, France Gagné by a slightly slimmer margin. The two are facing off again this time; however, newly recruited candidates on the ballot – the Liberal Party’s Philippe Mérel and the Green Party’s Jean Clouthier – are working hard to raise their profile among voters. The NDP is also hoping to atract more votes by riding on their leader’s popularity.
