75 years ago my grandparents and infant father traveled from Kansas to California on route 66.They arrived broke and hungry,moving up and down the coast looking for work.They picked fruit in the great Yakima valley of Washington,worked in gas stations and any number of odd jobs.In Los Angeles my grandfather worked as a delivery man for an ice company where he had a brief,but memorable encounter with Hollywood film making during it’s golden age ! This is the story of that transcendence from Dust-bowl to Hollywood,by way of Route 66 .
