The Skyline Drive in the Capital Region, USA
In a history spanning more than 70 years the Skyline Drive, one of America’s favourite byways, has offered travellers the opportunity to view many of the most scenic vistas in the eastern United States. Some of those tourists are better known than others, for example Michelle Obama has made the journey on a couple of occasions. The experience combines the protected setting of Shenandoah National Park, celebrating its 75th anniversary, with two visitor centres, miles of hiking & biking trails, opportunities for wildlife viewing, within the infamous Blue Ridge Mountains; and not to be missed, the Luray Caverns, 4,000,000 centuries in the making beneath Virginia’s storied Shenandoah Valley. This video shows just some of the delights that a trip along the Skyline Drive has to offer. This includes a look inside the plantation home of the 3rd President of the USA Thomas Jefferson, author of the USA’s Declaration of Independence.
