Public Record MUZZLED MEDIA - THE GLOBAL CHALLENGEThe Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) organized a signature lecture entitled "Muzzled Media - The Global Challenge" on June 21st, 2011, in Waterloo, Ontario. Panellists in this event discussed the current state of foreign reporting with a focus on the risks journalists face while working abroad. The participants were Michelle Shephard (National Security Reporter for The Toronto Star), Anna Maria Tremonti (Host of The Current, CBC Radio), Sonia Verma (Foreign Correspondent for The Globe and Mail) and Allan Thompson (Associate Professor of Journalism at Carleton University and Director at the Centre for Media and Transitional Societies). The panel was moderated by Lynn Haddrall (Editor-in-Chief, The Record).
