山西戰鼓，本來只由男丁奏出，今集向世界出發將會帶大家看到二百個農村婦女，穿戰衣，打鑼鼓的奇境。在雄壯一致的鼓聲背後，隱隱然看到大國堀起背後的憂患。黃土高原變得男丁單薄，所以戰鼓改由婦女演奏，以賺取生計，而男丁則多數都到附近的煤礦工作。在不斷的開採下，山西的空氣質素已變得非常惡劣。然而，當地人仍為求一時的利益，而莽顧日益明顯的環境問題。到底中國的富強，是好是壞?
