This year’s award goes to Kathrin Schmidt for her autobiographical novel "Du stirbst nicht", a touching family story of survival after a long coma. In selecting the winner of Germany's most prestigious literary prize, the jury paid tribute to Kathrin Schmidt's "powerful language" in describing a patient's inner world.
