Bring back Fish on a Friday!
How many times a week do you eat fish? The Food Standards Agency recommends that we should all eat at least two portions every week, one of which should be oily. Not only is fish a rich source of protein, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids, but it is extensive in variety #x2013; so there is a fish out there to suit every taste bud and occasion. However, it seems only a quarter of us are meeting this quota. So why is this? Perhaps one reason is the dying tradition of eating fish on a Friday, with only 5% of us now still sitting down to a fish based meal at the end of the week.To support the launch of their Simply Baked to Perfection range, Birds Eye took a closer look at our fish-eating habits, with their research finding that one in four people say they would rather not cook fish as they think it is too expensive. Nearly one in five people think fish is too smelly, while just under a quarter either don’t know how to prepare fish or simply don't like handling it.Whatever your excuse is, the facts are there #x2013; fish should be an important part of everyone's diet. So whether you are new to preparing fish, aren't sure what to do with it, or just don't have the time to try, take a look at this video. Aldo Zilli, one of the nation's favourite fish chefs, takes us to Billingsgate Market where he gives us some of his top tips and introduces us to a few friends on the way. His main aim? To show the great British public that fish needn't be complicated and encourage them to start eating more fish as part of a healthy balanced diet #x2013; especially on a Friday! For more information visit www.birdseye.co.uk
