英・ロンドン近郊の動物園でオスのコビトカバの赤ちゃんが話題に
イギリス・ロンドン近郊の動物園で、オスのコビトカバの赤ちゃんが話題になっている。生後3カ月のオスの赤ちゃんは、お母さんと一緒に散歩したり、草をほお張ったりと、なんとも愛らしく、この日は初めて池に入った。現在、コビトカバは絶滅危惧(きぐ)種に指定され、野生での生存確認は3,000頭以下となっている。動物園では、この赤ちゃんが、絶滅にひんしている動物に対する人々の意識を高めてくれればと期待している。
