Pearl Report - ???? - Living (with HIV) - 2009-02-15
HIV was a death sentence, but not anymore. New drugs give people who test HIV positive control again over their lives. If they test soon enough after being infected and take a few pills everyday, their HIV might never become full-blown AIDS. They won’t incur huge medical bills and miss work, and won't be subject to the opportunistic illnesses that ultimately claim the lives of people with AIDS. If only everyone knew. People living productive lives in hong kong with HIV can't afford to tell others. If they do, they could be discriminated against, especially by potential new employers. Producer Chris Lincoln meets people living with HIV, and finds out why the rate of new HIV infections in Hong Kong has gone up.
