Vanuit de basiliek in het Mariabedevaartsoord in Oostakker. Uit devotie tot Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Lourdes bouwde in 1873 een adellijke dame in haar kasteeltuin in Oostakker een grot. Het was het begin van het Vlaamse Lourdes. De Gentse bisschop, Monseigneur Van Looy, gaat voor, samen met Vicaris Luk De Geest en de rector van de basiliek, Gino Grenson.
