Derek Lee
Beyond Politics Liberal MP Derek Lee grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia until he was 10 years old when his father, an RCMP officer, was transferred to Toronto. Unsure with what he wanted to do with his life, Derek entered seminary school and spent a year there before deciding the priesthood wasn’t for him and opted instead to go to University of Toronto for a BA in Political Science. Several years and a stop at Queen's University later Derek found himself armed with a law degree. Derek was first approached to join the Liberals in 1979 where he worked with the Riding Executive. In 1988 Derek ran for the first time in Scarborough - Rouge River and won. He was been the riding's MP ever since. A motorcycle aficionado , Derek is also an avid hiker, having walked the length of the Bruce Trail and a solo venture across Baffin Island.
