The incandescent light bulb has been around for more than a 100 years, but its reign is finally coming to an end. According to Emile Aarts, the lighting industry will go through an evolution similar to the developments in computing since the invention of the first transistor. Only, where the digital revolution in computing took over 100 years, the one in lighting will be realized within little over a decade. In the next 12 years, 80 billion light bulbs will be replaced by LEDS. LED technology offers many great new possibilities which are still to be explored. Already, they are being used to reduce stress, improve efficiency and influence behavior. As Emile Aarts says: Light is set free and he expects a great deal out of it. About TEDx.
