Powers of Ten by Charles and Ray Eames
The 10th October this year - 10/10/10 - is an auspicious date for designers, and not just because it looks so lovely. For many aesthetes the magic of numbers is also a question of scale, and 10/10/10 is as good excuse as any for the Eames Office to relaunch Powers of Ten - a 1968 short film written and directed by Charles and Ray Eames. Depicting the relative scale of the Universe in factors of ten, the documentary is a cult classic. The Eames Office is also relaunching the Powers of Ten website, a tool via which it helps people to experience and understand the importance of scale in a hands on and enlightening way.
