Engine trouble with Beechey’s car leads to the hard decision not to race in the final of the championship. As Beechey looks on from the sidelines, the final race at Symmons Plains is run on a wet track damp with rain. Another member of the Shell team wins the race and this gives Shell a one, two and three placing in the overall championship.
