CRUISING IN ALASKA
One of the most popular, and affordable, activities that visitors in Alaska love to do is to take a Glacier and Wildlife Cruise. And you can hit Alaska’s waters in hour long, half day, or even week long trips that will give you up close and personal views of Alaska's breathtaking natural beauty. The most popular cruises go through the gorgeous Prince William Sound, where visitors can get an eyeful of icy glacial towers crashing into the ocean and thrill to the otherworldly songs of passing whales. Head out to the port of Whittier, just an hour and a half south of Anchorage to get out to the famous Sound, and sign up for tours by The Philips 26 Glacier Cruise, Prince William Sound Glacier Cruises, and Major Marine Tours for experiences that will not disappoint. Another area worth exploring by sea is the Kenai Fjords National Park, where you'll launch out of the port town of Seward, 2 and a half hours South of Anchorage. The Kenai Fjords are your best bet if you want to see some marine life in action, including giant whales, sea lions, and seals, along with your glaciers. Kenai Fjord Tours, Mariah Tours, and once again, Major Marine Tours, are three reliable tour companies that will give you a day trip to remember. And if you can't quite afford to go out on the water for a half day, the Portage Glacier Cruise, an hour South of Anchorage on Portage Lake, offers cheaper, hourly tours. And for those that really want to stay on the water, there are many multi day cruises that will take you all over Alaska to see the gorgeous sites. Whatever option you choose, make sure you get on the water at some point during your visit to get the full Alaska experience.
