Insurgency is a Half-Life 2 mod that can best be described as a mixture of part Counter Strike, part Call of Duty 4, but the tactical nature of this mod far exceeds either of those titles. The designers goal was to create a realistic, team-based modern infantry game. The size of the maps requires teamwork in order to win, and the mod features a unique rank/order-issuing method. The pacing of the game is similar to CS, but without all the boring waiting around, and graphically it's one of the nicer looking applications of the Source engine. The mod is still in beta and a few minor bugs show up from time to time, but for the most part it's very stable. Official website:
